BOOK CLUB THURSDAYS: ANIMAL LOVER

Welcome back to another Book Club Thursday.

This week we decided to each talk about any topic we wanted.

Me, I'm a sucker for romances with animals. Specifically dogs. And not just when the pet is mentioned a few times but rather when they have a staring role.  And sometimes the pet can even take of the whole romance!

So, I've decided to list some of my favorite romances starring pets. Most are still available in one format or another and all are worth tracking down.

Happy Reading! And I'd love to hear what you think and if you have a favorite romance starring pets.

   ABOUT THE BOOK:

Miss Piggy, everyone's favorite vamp-turned-mutt, is back for another matchmaking adventure! Shipped off to Arizona to work as a pet therapy dog, Piggy now lives with Nell Jordan, a freelance journalist living a hand-to-mouth existence writing human interest stories and volunteering for her pet therapy group, "Hearts of Gold." When one of the most curmudgeonly patients on their visiting route dies, Nell is shocked to learn that he's left $12 million...to Piggy! Miss Piggy's all-too-human-spirit is thrilled by her nouveau riche status, but foiled by her doggy exterior—and by the presence of Dan Travis, Nell's new boyfriend. Piggy's convinced that Dan's only after Nell's—er, Piggy's—money, and is determined to break them up. But Dan has secrets bigger than that, and as he falls harder and harder for Nell, they threaten to blow up in his face

  ABOUT THE BOOK:

They tried to resist each other, but it was impossible. Soon their passions were unleashed, and their self-control went to the dogs . . .

FBI agent Jake Donnelly is not the kind of man who names a dog “Muffin.” Especially not a jowly bulldog. But now Jake’s Aunt Sophie has left him her beloved Muffin, along with a sizable inheritance that has some strings attached. Jake and Muffin have to attend a two-week therapy course designed to work out any bonding issues they may have.
Enter Leanne Crosby, a pet shrink and owner of a luxury pet spa complete with private counseling sessions, a doggie dating service, and plenty of quirky advice on proper pet parenting.

When the gorgeous and brilliant Dr. Crosby sets out to help Jake and Muffin become soulmates, it soon becomes obvious that she and Jake are falling in puppy love.

 ABOUT THE BOOK:

Part basset, part beagle, all Cupid…

For Nina Askew, turning forty means freedom—from the ex-husband, freedom from their stuffy suburban home, freedom to focus on what she wants for a change. And what she wants is something her ex always vetoed—a puppy. A bouncy, adorable puppy.
Instead she gets…Fred.

Overweight, middle-aged, a bit smelly and obviously depressed, Fred is light-years from perky.
But he does manage to put Nina in the path of Alex Moore, her gorgeous, younger-by-a-decade neighbor.

Alex seems perfect—he's a sexy, seemingly sane, surprisingly single E.R. doctor—but the age gap convinces Nina that anyone but Alex would be better relationship material. But with every silver-haired stiff she dates, the more she suspects it's the young, dog-loving doc she wants to sit and stay!

Love is a Four-Legged Word ABOUT THE BOOK:

Romance is for the dogs...

Tom O'Brien is close to making partner at the hottest law firm in San Francisco, provided his newest client doesn't foul things up. Brutus Stoddard is rich and spoiled, craves attention, and drools. The fact that he's a dog doesn't help matters.

Brutus has inherited a multimillion-dollar estate from his late owner, as well as a pretty guardian named Madeline Cartwright, professional chef and the eccentric old man's surrogate granddaughter. Tom finds her-and her culinary creations- irresistible.

If Tom is to get that promotion, he has to maintain the terms of the will. That means keeping both Brutus and Maddy happy. He's trying his hardest to keep the arrangement professional, but with two clients this adorable, Tom's suddenly craving a different kind of partnership altogether.

Tails of Love ABOUT THE BOOK:

From Seeing Eye dogs to the cat who cuddles in your lap, animals are there for us in more ways than we can count. Helping us get through the day with a wag of the tail and a tilt of the head, they let us know that someone is on our side-no matter what. They also have an amazing ability to break down barriers between people; bringing families and loved ones closer, and giving strangers an excuse to strike up a conversation. In Tails of Love, each writer draws from her own unique perspective on our loyal friends-exploring the many mysterious ways they bring love into our lives.

Again, all of the books are worth the read!
