BOOK CLUB THURSDAY: REVIEW

WELCOME READERS!

Thanks for stopping by. It's my favorite month - October! And my favorite...HALLOWEEN!

I know my fellow bloggers and I have touched on this before- but I love reading my paranormal romances in October because there was a time when they were hard to come by, and I would save a few to read around Halloween.

This week we are doing our thing and each reviewing a paranormal romance.

There are so many out there, it was hard to choose!

I think I'll go back to one of my very favorites.  I chose this one in particular because the initial buzz, around this book and the WAIT to get into my grubby my paws was just awful.

And I'll freely admit that I am behind this series but the later books in this series seemed to lose something for me (although they are well written, with to die for characters). I won't say why I think I've lost some interest though but if you're game for a conversation about it, I'd love to hear from you below.

I think I've mentioned this book before on my blog in passing but there's a reason why I'm bringing it up again. It's just that damn good.

ABOUT THE BOOK:

Dear Reader,

Being trapped in a bedroom with a woman is a grand thing. Being trapped in hundreds of bedrooms over two thousand years isn't. And being cursed into a book as a love-slave for eternity can ruin even a Spartan warrior's day.

As a love-slave, I know everything about women. How to touch them, how to savor them, and most of all, how to pleasure them. But when I was summoned to fulfill Grace Alexander's sexual fantasies, I found the first woman in history who saw me as a man with a tormented past. She alone bothered to take me out of the bedroom and onto the world. She taught me to love again.

But I was not born to love. I was cursed to walk eternity alone. As a general, I had long ago accepted my sentence. Yet now I have found Grace--the one thing my wounded heart cannot survive without. Sure, love can heal all wounds, but can it break a two-thousand-year-old curse?

MY TWO CENTS:

Fantasy Lover is filled with romance and lots of humorous moments which balance well with some of the more serious aspects of this book. I also enjoyed the mixture/use of the Greek Gods/Goddesses as secondary characters in this book.

Grace and Julian are great characters. Grace is an average woman, a bit insecure with a huge heart. Julian has a protective side despite being betrayed and having a wounded heart.

How Julian comes into Grace's life is enchanting and some of the little things in this book make it especially romantic- like Grace reading to Julian.

This book loosely kicks off the Dark Hunter Series. I can't really explain why without giving too much away because it's more fun to find out on your own.

MY REVIEW:
A special thanks to Netgalley for my e- ARC copy in exchange for my honest review.
This charming novella was a funny quick read. Although it was predictable and I didn't quite LOVE the hero, it was still a well written romance. This also reminded me of own experience with 2013-2014 awful SNOW fall in the Chicago area. It's worth the read.

REVIEW: HER LONE WOLF: PAIGE TYLER

MY REVIEW

Thanks to Netgalley for my ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I was so excited to read this book.

I loved Clayne from Her Perfect Mate. Although he was a bit of an ass, he was still so swoon worthy. And I'm happy that this book did him justice.

Sometimes in series, books can loose steam. Not the case here. Her Lone Wolf is fast paced and sexy. What I really love about Ms. Tyler's books is that her heroines are just so damn KICK ASS. Add too that a yummy ALPHA hero and you have one delicious book! Her Lone Wolf is well developed and proves again why I love this series so much!

I'm a total fan girl and can't wait for the next book in this series- a novella due out soon.
I'm even more excited to be reading Hungry Like the Wolf(a new series of linked books). Add Ms. Tyler to your Auto-Buy List- you won't be sorry.

REVIEW- INNOCENT PREY - MAGGIE SHAYNE

ABOUT THE BOOK:
To save innocent lives, they'll have to risk their own.
Self-help superstar Rachel de Luca and Detective Mason Brown have finally given in to their overwhelming attraction to each other, but neither of them is ready to let physical passion turn into full-blown romance, so they carefully maintain an emotional distance. Then a judge's daughter disappears, and Mason has a terrible sense that it's connected to the most recent case they solved together: the abduction of Rachel's assistant.
The discovery of a string of missing women—all young, all troubled—seems like a promising lead. But there's no clear connection between the missing girls and the high-profile young woman Mason is trying to find. He realizes that once again he'll have to rely on his own well-honed instincts and Rachel's uncanny capacity to see through people's lies in order to catch a predator and rescue his captives. But can they do it before Rachel becomes his next victim?

MY REVIEW:
A thanks to Netgalley for my copy in exchange for my honest review.
I love the books in this innovative fast paced exciting series.
However, Innocent Prey just didn't seem as thrilling as the prior Wake to Darkness. Maybe I was just spoiled with WTD and how it literally had me screaming and on the edge of my seat. Don't get me wrong- Innocent Prey is still brilliant. And Ms. Shayne's writing is just as strong. I LOVE Myrtle and am happy to see the changes/depth of the relationship between Rachel and Mason. The subject matter is still creepy with a strong cast of secondary characters. It's a strong addition to this series. I won't spoil what the next book in the series is about but I'm already like a kid in a candy store and can't wait!  I hope Ms. Shayne continues with this series because I am a fan and will continue to read them and recommend them.

BOOK CLUB THURSDAY: IT'S A PARANORMAL WORLD

WELCOME BACK READERS!

Thanks for stopping by. Since it's October - we're still talking PARANORMAL.

The paranormal world really is just that - a world. Think of a shifter or creature and you can bet there's a book about it (most with a romantic theme)

I enjoy the paranormal world enough that I'm game for pretty much about everything in the paranormal world. I am a bit bored of vampires and werewolves but only because that's what kicked off quite a bit of the books that are out that in the paranormal genre. I chose the above books, not because I've specifically read all of them ( I have read some, but I have read ALL of the authors).

I'd love to hear about any unusual paranormal books you have read with out of the ordinary creatures whether they have a romance or not.

Stacey Kennedy is the USA Today bestselling author of the Club Sin series. Growing up, Stacey’s mind wandered the path less traveled, and that path most often led to love. She has always broken rules and she continues to feed off emotion—always staying true to her heart. Those traits are now the bones of her stories. She lives in southwestern Ontario with her husband, who puts any of the heroes in her books to shame, and their two young children. If she’s not on Mom duty or plugging away at a new story, you’ll find Stacey camping in the summer, hibernating in the winter, and obsessing over Penny Dreadful, Game of Thrones, and Sons of Anarchy.

BOOK CLUB THURSDAY: BRAINS........

WELCOME READERS!

Thanks for taking the time to check in today.

This week my fellow bloggers and I are talking about whatever we wanted as long as it was paranormal.

If my subject line didn't clue you in, I'm sure the pix at the left did.

Although not really a romantic topic, I'm talking ZOMBIES!

I'll be mentioning  two of my favorite zombie authors and yeah, I've blogged before about em long ago, but I'm in the mood. Besides, if you like snarky zombie goodness (and if you aren't afraid to go there- intrigued? yeah read the books!)you can't go wrong with (both books kick off their series):

ABOUT THE BOOK:

Angel Crawford is a loser.

Living with her alcoholic deadbeat dad in the swamps of southern Louisiana, she's a high school dropout with a pill habit and a criminal record who's been fired from more crap jobs than she can count. Now on probation for a felony, it seems that Angel will never pull herself out of the downward spiral her life has taken.

That is, until the day she wakes up in the ER after overdosing on painkillers. Angel remembers being in an horrible car crash, but she doesn't have a mark on her. To add to the weirdness, she receives an anonymous letter telling her there's a job waiting for her at the parish morgue—and that it's an offer she doesn't dare refuse.

Before she knows it she's dealing with a huge crush on a certain hunky deputy and a brand new addiction: an overpowering craving for brains. Plus, her morgue is filling up with the victims of a serial killer who decapitates his prey—just when she's hungriest!

Angel's going to have to grow up fast if she wants to keep this job and stay in one piece. Because if she doesn't, she's dead meat.

Literally.

MY REVIEW:

Thanks to Netgalley for allowing me to read this book for my honest review.

Don't let this cover fool you.

Jilted is not a light fluffy/cute romance (which is more of the vibe I got from looking at it).

This second chance at love(reunited love actually) is pretty serious at the heart of it all.

The rural Australia setting may appeal to those that like a book with a small town feel peppered with interesting secondary characters.

Jilted is filled with some easy to figure out "twists" and maybe one that wasn't so clear.

There are some deep issues at play here that left with me with mixed feelings on how they were worked out.

Jilted is solidly written for a debut, but I'm mixed on whether I'd read another book by this author.

BOOK CLUB THURSDAY: IS PARANORMAL DEAD?

WELCOME READERS!

So with October and Halloween now arriving (my favorites all year), myself and my fellow bloggers are focusing on a month of the paranormal.

So the burning question is: IS PARANORMAL DEAD?

This is something I know I, and at least one of my fellow bloggers have brought up before; we remember the days where it was impossible to find any paranormal themed romances.  I'm not talking horror, or Urban Fantasy because there is a HUGE difference (mostly the HEA or lack thereof and where the focus of the story lies).

So to answer the question:

My personal opinion is, as supported by what I see on the store
shelves, listed in what I call the book bible (RT BOOK REVIEWS Magazine<check it out by clicking here>), and in publishers previews....

YES with a BUT.

I have mixed feelings about this.  I have way too many print copy PR's squirreled away to care if the trend is slowing or over BUT somehow I still do. So  the YES - I see print PR's slowing way down especially from the major publishers/houses  BUT I know many authors have turned to self publishing or are going with e-book publishers and that's great. Although I admit  that  I'm a die hard print/hard copy in your hands type of reader (I prefer an actual tangible book).

I'd love to hear your thoughts and what PR's or Paranormal themed books you love, so drop me a comment.

What do my BFF's think? Find out now by visiting:
