BOOK CLUB THURSDAYS:OUT OF THIS WORLD

 MIKLEWI JURRA PIUTIPX!

That's alien for  Welcome Happy Readers!

(and thanks to somelia at www.scratch.mit.edu the cool alien language generator!)

This week we are talking about romances that are OUT OF THIS WORLD.

Or at least futuristic/sci-fi themed.

Although not as popular as paranormal romances, they are no way any less intense or sexy.  In fact, in my humble (two cents) opinion, they are just as good but far less appreciated.

So I'll get right down to it and just highlight some of the romances from this genre that I have loved:

ABOUT THE BOOK:

In the year 2139, fearless Tedra De Arr sets out to rescue her beleaguered planet Kystran from the savage rule of the evil Crad Ce Moerr.

Experienced in combat but not in love, the beautiful, untouched Amazon flies with Martha, her wise-cracking, free-thinking computer, to a world where warriors reigns supreme - and into the arms of the one man she can never hope to vanquish: the bronzed barbarian Challen Ly-San-Ter.

A magnificent creature of raw yet disciplined desires, the muscle-bound primitive succeeds where no puny Kystran male had before - igniting a raging fire within Tedra that must be extinguished before she can even think of saving her enslaved world...

MY TWO CENTS:

This book remains one of my favorite books by this author. It was funny and romantic with great characters especially Martha! I highly recommend it!

ABOUT THE BOOK:

She was shot protecting the president, and woke up naked, in the arms of a hunk...

A hunk named Kahn, who told Secret Service agent Tessa Camen an outlandish story about traveling through time, saving the world, and a Challenge only she can accept. Kahn offers her proof she can't refute: Tessa has been brought forward through time to save Earth by winning an intergalactic challenge.

Kahn only has a few weeks to train Tessa to use the psi-abilities he insists she has. He is confident in the success of a time-honored method that uses sexual frustration to bring out her powers, but Tessa is dubious. She's a martial arts expert and can fight her way through anything, but she's never had much luck with emotions.

Luckily for Earth, Kahn can be very convincing...

MY TWO CENTS:

Lots of negative reviews about this book because of the subject matter and hero but it didn't bother me. It's hot and sexy and I enjoyed the characters and plot.

ABOUT THE BOOK:

Commander Alexandria Frazier headed up NASA's first deep-space mission to search for other habitable planets in distant galaxies. Where only two years passed by for the crew of the Methuselah, fifteen hundred years had ticked by on Earth. Alex and her crew were prepared for that eventuality. What they weren't prepared for was a nuclear war and the resulting catastrophic meteor shower that sent them hurling into Earth's very distant, eerie future.Welcome to earth in the year 100,000,007 A.D.Prepare to scream.

MY TWO CENTS:

To this date, this is probably one of the darkest and sexiest books I've read. And it is dark. And sexy. With a very VERY different type of hero....

ABOUT THE BOOK:

Smart, sexy, and kick-ass brave, Kat has the fighting skills of a warrior and a sexual appetite few men can match--although most would happily die trying. But Kat has bigger problems than choosing her latest bedmate/plaything. She's caught in a post-apocalyptic world where only the rich live well--and Kat is determined to be one of them. To make her dream come true, the fearless treasure hunter has to get her hands on a lot of money, and that's going to take every bit of talent she's got, and then some. With her devoted partner and lover Damian by her side, Kat sets out to make one big score. The stakes are high and they get even higher when she discovers her rival, Hades, is after the same thing. Big, mean, and sexy as hell, he's just the sort of man Kat loves to take to bed. . .and will. . .if he can help her in her quest.

Now, two people whose fiery attraction grows more explosive by the hour are joining forces in a dangerous game, and a delicious discovery of the treasures that await them in the dark. . .

MY TWO CENTS:

This series of books was so much fun. It's gritty and different and has one of the strongest toughest kick ass heroines I've ever read about.

ABOUT THE BOOK:

In a galaxy far, far away, beautiful Jenise will do anything to escape marriage to her late stepfather's evil brother, Karpon. When she discovers that Karpon has captured a powerful shapechanger, Gian Ren, she decides to make him an offer he can't refuse. Gian Ren has been drugged, stripped, and chained to a wall. Despite his circumstances, Jenise is wary, for even chained the shapechanger is formidable. Surprisingly, he accepts her unusual request that he deflower her in exchange for her aid in escaping. Gian passionately accomplishes his part of the bargain and within moments, the two set off on a perilous journey, fleeing from Karpon and his soldiers.

MY TWO CENTS:

When I read this book, I had no clue it was part of a series but after finishing it, I tracked down the others. It's sexy and fast paced with one of the lost touching/heart- breaking characters/ scenes I've ever read about. I just wish Ms. Joy (if I'm recalling correctly-she didn't) would have been able to finish writing these books.

AND FINALLY -

Although I've never read this book, it's been in my TBR moutain for years. I bought it at least 15 years ago after reading a positive mention about it an article that talked about romances in this genre:

ABOUT THE BOOK:

Sara had been torn from Earth by a nameless black force and taken to Lothar where she was forced to care for a strange man, who she discovered was the Regent. She escaped in panic, and become a fugitive in a world of multiple evils.

I would LOVE to hear about the romances in the genre you've loved OR if you have any thoughts about my choices.
