BOOK CLUB THURSDAY-READING CHALLENGE 2016

WELCOME BOOK LOVERS

My name is Cyndi and I'd like to thank you for stopping by for another round of book talk on Book Club Thursday (BCT).

Each week myself and two best friends (Ann and Karen) blog all about books or book related themes. To learn more about each of us and BCT please click here

This week's theme is:

The Reading Challenge is each of us pick a themed book from a pre-set list. I really fell down on the job with my participation in mid 2016 with many of the Thursdays. I haven't exactly kept track of what I have or haven't read for BCT...so this may be a duplicate theme pick. That said, in 2017 that won't happen LOL!

So I picked:

Read a feel good book

#1 New York Times bestselling author Kresley Cole continues her electrifying Immortals After Dark series with this thrilling tale, revealing secrets of the Lore, fierce realm of the immortals…

In this thrilling tale of the Immortals After Dark, #1 New York Times bestselling author Kresley Cole reveals secrets of the Lore, fierce realm of the immortals.

ALL FEAR THE ENEMY OF OLD

Driven by his insatiable need for revenge, Lothaire, the Lore’s most ruthless vampire, plots to seize the Horde’s crown by offering up the soul of his lovely new captive, Elizabeth Peirce. Yet the young human soon tempts him beyond reason.

A DEADLY FORCE DWELLS WITHIN HER

Ellie Peirce’s life was a living hell—even before an evil immortal abducted her. Though he plans to sacrifice her, the vampire seems to ache for her touch, showering her with sexual pleasure. In a bid to save her soul, she surrenders her body, while vowing to protect her heart.

CENTURIES OF COLD INDIFFERENCE SHATTERED

In one month, Lothaire must choose between a millennia-old blood vendetta and his irresistible prisoner. Will he succumb to the miseries of his past . . . or risk everything for a future with her?

You might be asking yourself how can a book filled with violence, darkness and not so nice characters be a "feel good" book.

If you've read Ms. Cole I'm hoping and guessing that you see why I think so.

All of her books in this series are just so damn good. She also gets better with each book she writes (I am behind in the series in the books following Lothaire but am quickly fixing that so I'll ready for the newest book(s) in 2017).

Her world building is intricate(multiple congruent/parallel story lines) and in depth but I'm never bored or confused. And let me be perfectly clear- you CAN NOT just jump into this series with any book; for so many reasons, specifically the aforementioned story lines. Plus you get to see so many different sides of everything and all of the characters. And again, they all aren't necessarily so nice-  call them the perfect/not so perfect anti-heroes and anti-heroines.

LOVE LOVE LOVE

Lothaire fits this description to a tee. In past books and including this one(his own story), I couldn't help but root for him. Even when he's being...

As for Ellie- let's just say she doesn't make it easy for this Immortal Bad Ass. She's had one hell of a life.

This is a sexy as hell, gritty entry into the series that had me cheering, laughing and reading long into the night (and as always, I find Ms.Cole's books so hard to put down).

Do yourself a huge favor- Start this series if you haven't OR catch up if you're behind and read Lothaire. It's actually my favorite in the series to date...
