saturday scoop - dearest ivie- jr ward

Welcome Book Lovers

That sounds so much better than book haters doesn't it!  LOL

Thanks for stopping by and checking out my "scoop" (I'm all about the short sweet spoiler free style of reviewing) about a book I've read.

I'd love to hear your thoughts or comments, if you have any, about this novel. I'd also love to hear about your favorite novel by this author (if there is/you have one).

Today's pick:

NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • In an exclusive ebook novella set in the world of the Black Dagger Brotherhood, J. R. Ward tells the story of a fiery couple . . . doomed by an undeniable passion.

Features a special preview of J. R. Ward’s upcoming Black Dagger Brotherhood novel, The Thief!

The last place Ivie expects to be approached by a devastatingly handsome male is in a crowded, smoky cigar bar rarely frequented by vampires—yet here he stands. Silas is flirtatious, gallant, and, above all, mysterious. Ivie is anything but. A nurse at the healer’s clinic and the daughter of a biker, Ivie is accustomed to speaking her mind. So she does. Since aristocrats rarely pick up females of her class, Ivie asks Silas just what kind of game he thinks he’s playing.

Despite her guarded exterior, Ivie surrenders to the fierce desire she feels for Silas. And yet, just as their courtship is heating up, he reveals that it cannot last, for he is bound to return to the Old Country. Their bond only deepens as they make the most of their precious time together. But when she learns the truth, Ivie must find a saving grace—before all is lost. . . .

I'll start with saying that this novella was a romantic relationship centered novel between Ivie and Silas. Did I mention it was romantic? Oh, yes!

Also it is so loosely connected to the series that you could read it and not worry about any spoilers etc regarding other the novels. Although some characters from other novels are featured, that's it- they have backup roles.

I really enjoyed both Ivie and Silas as characters. They felt authentic and despite the speed of their relationship, I was okay with it. I especially enjoyed Rubes and Ivie's family. There's plenty of trademark depth, humor and bonds of family here.

I'll admit to figuring things out  fairly quickly(not that it was hard) and I was worried for a moment that Ms Ward was going to repeat the SUCKY SHITTINESS that was the ending in The Shadows, but no worries - there is a HEA here!
